Cream Filling Recipe
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups milk
- 2 slightly beaten eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Mix sugar, flour, salt; slowly stir in milk
- Cook and stir over medium heat til mixture boils and thickens; then cook for an additional two minutes.
- Stir a little of hot mixture into eggs; then stir in remaining hot mixture.
- Stir constantly; bring toa boil.
- Add vanilla; let cool.
This Cream Filling Recipe makes 2 1/3 cups of filling.
For Butterscotch Filling:
In the recipe above, use 2/3 cup brown sugar instead of granulated sugar. Then add 1/4 cup butter with vanilla.
For Chocolate Filling:
Add 1 1/2 one-ounce squares unsweetened chocolate, cut up, with milk; increase sugar to 3/4 cup.
